Pro bono team
Victoria and Virginia have been working since August to assist women and children refugees detained by ICE in the private prison at Karnes City. Along the way, we’ve become somewhat overwhelmed by the needs and scope of injustice, and also met some FABULOUS people — refugees and advocates. These wonderful people include the entire Karnes pro bono team, National Immigration Project mentors and AILA volunteers, amazing advocates at RAICES and American Gateways, law students and professors at the immigration and civil rights clinics at the University of Texas, St. Mary’s, and University of Houston law schools, members of the San Antonio Interfaith Welcome Team, individual and organizational advocates too numerous to mention, and Iris Rodriguez, founder of xicamedia, creator and mother of the EndFamilyDetention.com website.
And to our great joy (and immense relief), the wonderful people listed below have joined our pro bono efforts. They donate their time for cases & causes this practice takes on a pro bono basis.
